A woman learns basic self-defense techniques at PowerKenpo - Dallas Martial Arts, Self-Defense and Karate Studio in Carrollton, TX

Make no mistake — Kenpo Karate is a serious art. It's a system of what some might consider dirty fighting; of attacks to the soft areas and of "limb destructions". It's a system that takes away the size and weight advantage and enables even a small woman or man to win a physical confrontation.

Alarms fail. Guns jam, or aren't available when you need them. Locks and doors break. There may come a time when the only thing standing between you and your loved ones is your empty hands. At PowerKenpo we'll teach you how to use them effectively.

American Kenpo Karate is a fighting art. It was designed specifically for self-defense by Ed Parker, and it provides a kenpoist with the ability to cause massive damage to an attacker. It's been called the "Ultimate Defense", and for good reason.

American Kenpo Karate is often referred to as a multiple-attacker system. By this, we mean that the system allows you to engage and neutralize more than one attacker at a time. If you are being attacked by 2, 3, or more people, it's possible to not only survive but to inflict catastrophic damage to each attacker. We do this in part by staying on our feet, by not letting the opponent pin us down, and by striking with devastating effect, with proper body mechanics, to points on the body that will have an immediate impact.

How do we teach an art of such destructive power while still promoting Kenpo as an art of honor and integrity? Because we teach students that they should use no more power than necessary. We offer a full range of options from minimal force inflicting no damage to maximum force inflicting total destruction, and we train our students to properly judge the appropriate level of force.

Can we teach you defend yourself in a week? No, we can't. We can give you some ideas, and we can lay the foundation for the ability to defend yourself and your loved ones. Start training in Kenpo Karate with an emphasis on developing your art for self-defense, and you'll find that your skills, and your confidence, will quickly improve.
